| The Adult Literacy Program is offered to adults in the County of Red Deer. |
|
The purpose of the program is to provide an
opportunity for adults to upgrade their reading, writing, or arithmetic
skills, or learn English as a second language. |
|
Many people, for a variety of reasons, do not
have the literacy skills needed to participate fully in today's economic
reality. Others may have their lives enriched by upgrading their
literacy skills in order to engage in some satisfying personal pursuit. |
|
Whatever their personal goals may be, the Adult
Literacy Program will help the individual reach them. |
|
A volunteer tutor will be provided to help in
the process. |
|
Except for a $10.00 per year registration fee,
this service is free of charge, and can be accessed by any adult in the
County of Red Deer. |
|
People who have a good grasp of the English
language are invited to become volunteer tutors. Training can
be provided for teaching Basic Adult Education and English as a Second
language. |
